Mitsubishi run-up to release the image of the 2013 Outlander crossover a month before it is showcased in the Geneva Motor Show. It has option of 2WD and 4WD. Powering this Japanese crossover is a 2.2-litre MIVEC diesel engine instead of the current 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol for a more practical drive in the SUV. This motor is mated with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Other features include eco-driving, guiding the driver to obtain best fuel economy. This might be an excellent update where the term ‘economy’ doesn’t go with SUVs. And this beast has 3-seating rows. Also included is Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control system.
There were news of Mitsubishi working on launch of plug-in hybrid variant for 2013 with an immense 800km range and a CO2 emissions of 50g/km.
Having said all that, Mitsubishi is unlikely to bring the new Outlander to India anytime soon.
