Mitsubishi has unveiled the first official images of its next global product, Attrage sedan. The new car is based on the Mirage subcompact car and will hit the market in Thailand in July. The new vehicle is a part of the Thai Eco Car Project- in which car makers get subsidies for their vehicle’s efficiency over 20 kmpl.
The Attrage sedan is powered by a 1.2 litre MIVEC engine that delivers 76 bhp of power and peak torque of 100 Nm. The engine will be coupled with 5 speed manual gearbox and will also feature a CVT option. This is the same setup that also powers the Mirage hatchback. Mitsubishi claims that the new sedan can deliver a fuel efficiency of 22 kmpl.
Once it hits the market in Thailand it will be in direct competition with the Nissan Almera that also features excitingly similar looks. Almera is actually a midsized sedan. With the launch of Attrage, Mitsubishi might be hoping to get some good numbers also in the Indian market. But the Japanese company has already stated that for now they are concentrating only on the UVs in India and have no plans to introduce sedan or hatchback for now.
