Mitsubishi is all set to exhibit its Mirage at the Paris Motor Show scheduled to take place later this month. The European variant of the Mitsubishi Mirage is expected to be the same as available in Thailand, except in terms of the name. The European version is expected be called the “Colt.”
The Mirage is Japan-based manufacturer Mitsubishi newest small hatchback. It is being produced under the eco-friendly project called Eco-Car.
The combination of its comparatively low price and high fuel economy makes it a good option for entry level car buyers across the world. The Japanese automaker had showcased the Mitsubishi Mirage first during a last year event and launched it in the Thai market earlier this year.
The compact-sized Mirage hatchback is merely 3.7m by 1.6m by 1.4m in length, breadth and height. It gets power from three-cylinder petrol motor that comes equipped with MIVEC and five-speed manual transmission.
As the Mirage, which is known for its maneuverability, is within four meters with 1.0-litre engine, it is entitled for the small car excise duty concession in some countries like India.
The 2012 Mirage hatchback is available in 1-liter, 3-cylinder and 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder engine options. Both options are powered by petrol engines. These petrol engines are mated to CVT automatic transmission. In addition, the hatchback gets re-generative braking system as standard to charge its battery during braking. Its start-stop system stops the engine mechanically at traffic signals, which allows the vehicle to deliver a high fuel efficiency figure of 20kmpl.
Mitsubishi Mirage is reportedly also working on an electric version of the Mirage, which will be launched in developed markets, including Europe.
