In the current scenario, most of the automobile manufacturers are gearing themselves for working with electric vehicles while quite a few are already prepared to launch them.
Recently, Morris Garages announced their second car in India, which will be an electric vehicle named MG ZS EV. Morris Garages (MG) has officially announced that it will reveal the India-spec ZS EV on December 5, 2019. Bookings will also open in December, before the electric SUV goes on sale in January 2020.
The details about the MG ZS EV aren’t out yet for the Indian market. It is expected to carry over its European motor and battery packs though. In the UK, the compact electric SUV is powered by a synchronous motor that churns out 141 bhp and 353 Nm of peak torque. The model comes with a 44.5 kWh battery pack that promises a range of 300 kms on a single charge. The lithium-ion unit can be charged up to 80 per cent in 40 minutes with a 50 kW DC charger, or takes up to seven hours with a standard 7 kW charger.
In addition, MG Motor India will also set-up the country’s first 50 kW DC fast-charging stations across different cities in a bid to create the charging infrastructure to support EV sales. The automaker has tied-up with Fortum India to install the charging network and will first set-up the same at its showrooms in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.
MG ZS EV for India might sport a price tag of around Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). The ZS EV’s only real competition will come from the Hyundai Kona Electric that is on sale from Rs 25.3 lakh.
