Bosch Electrical Drives India, which is a JV with Igarashi Motors India, recently announced that they would be opening a new plant in Chennai, at the facility’s ground breaking ceremony. The plant which is projected to be operational by 2012-end, will produce HVAC blowers, window lift drives, cooling fan modules for the engine and wiper systems.
The plant will be located on a 9,000sq.m. land with a Rs.370mn investment. It will feature some of the most advanced technology for increasing the domestic production. The opening of this plant will be an important milestone for this company, which earlier began work in Chennai through a leased located back in 2008.
The company at present employs around 200 people. After the new plant is opened, the number of people employed will be raise to 350 more employees, over a three year period. The management board member of Bosch, Wolf-Henning Scheider said that this was a milestone not just for the Bosch India’s business division of electrical drives but also a milestone for them globally.
With most Asian economies seeing increased growth, with India and China leading the pack, they see a lot of scope and opportunity for their company to help in making some innovative and important developments in these markets.
