The Japanese carmaker, Honda, has launched the new Honda City in India along with its first diesel model at a starting price of Rs.8.62lakhs. The company has also launched the petrol variant of the car, which starts from Rs.7.42lakhs. This fourth generation sedan had been unveiled on 25th November globally and is now available in India with a price tag between Rs.8.62-10.98lakhs.
According to the CEO and President of Honda Cars India Ltd, the new sedan with its best diesel and petrol technology, of which the company is confident about, will surely help in the growth of the company in the Indian market.
The diesel variant of the car will be powered by a 1.5-litre iDTEC engine, while the petrol variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre iVTEC engine. The company claims that this fourth generation Honda City diesel variant will offer a fuel efficiency of 26kmpl. The efficiency of the car has improved compared to that of its siblings, especially the Honda Amaze. Both the cars have the same engine which produces power up to 100PS.
The fuel efficiency of the New Honda City has been improved due to the low resistance rolling tyres that reduce friction. Better aerodynamics and the addition of the sixth gear have also contributed to this car’s improved efficiency. The petrol variant of the car, on the other hand, is said to have a fuel economy of 18kmpl. The new Honda City will surely give competition to the other cars in the market that claim the title of having the best fuel economy, like the Tata Nano, Tata Indica eV2 and the Chevrolet Beat diesel.
