Honda City launch continued for a couple of days, started form Delhi on 7th January 2014 and continued to 8th January in Bombay. During the booking period of one day Honda managed to garner “9400” bookings which is tend to be increasing with the passing time, said an official of Honda at venue of Bombay.
Honda has neared to five figure bookings in a span of just approx 24 hours since the car launched. Appropriately, the official continued to say 4th Generation City is also holding a hefty waiting period of several weeks behind.
Most of the City booked are diesel variants, confirmed an official. He also stated the diesel share accounts for nearly 70% of the total bookings.
In fact, the Japanese is expected to register some record breaking figures this time with the bookings-fact of its sedan. We expect the sales report soon to relay an astonishing amount of growths in the coming months.
Bookings of new City are accepted at all Honda dealerships across the country for a sum of Rs. 51,000.
Powered by a diesel for the first time, new Honda City with 1.5L i-DTEC (diesel engine) produces 100PS@3600rpm and 200NM of torque at 1750rpm, with a fuel-efficiency of 26kmpl (as per ARAI). The petrol motor does its job with a 1.5L i-VTEC worth of 119PS@6600rpm and 145NM@4600rpm.
Petrol buyers are given an option to choose between the manual transmission and CVT transmission, while the diesel buyers have to suffice with only a manual one.
Depending upon the type of gearbox selected the petrol buyers with a CVT will get fuel-efficiency of 18kmpl, which is a notch more than the manual planted figure of 17.8kmpl.
