Honda couldn’t hold back the excitement at Shanghai, as unveiled the next-gen City in the People’s Republic. It rolled out this new model in joint venture with the Guangzhou Auto Corporation (GAC).
The car seen there was similar to the model sold in India, except for the design of wheels. Measuring 4440mm at length, 1695mm at width and 1495 mm at height, the wheelbase is spawned over 2600mm. The new platform, prominent front fascia, large front grille, sporty roofline and extended taillights are the major highlights.
Hence, unlike India, China will receive only a 1.5-litre petrol unit sending 117bhp and 145NM of torque, with no option of diesel. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and CVT placed in the option list.
Though, the car is a huge hit in India, we expect the same may also see a replication of the success in China, with the prices expected to start from upwards Rs 9 lakh (as converted from Yuan).
