It’s visible that new Honda hatchback is awaited to break the previous records of other carmakers, apparently leaving behind the Swift as well. Now, adding more oomph to that excitement, a rumour filed on the internet summed up claiming the hatchback will get a CVT transmission for India.
For the country, new Jazz will hold engine option of 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The latter will arrive only with the manual gearbox, while the former will get a CVT automatic transmission along with the manual.
However, the compact hatchback of Honda in India uses five-speed automatic gearbox; the maker will use a CVT from the new City. Thus, on the counts of previous experience, CVT enhances the fuel-economy due to high final drive ratio, but fails to deliver the responsive driving experience especially at low speeds.
In fact, Honda has sorted the problem by deploying a torque converter with the gearbox, which is the reason City offers a peppy drive even at the low revs.
Hence, Honda Jazz remained a bestseller for its maker around the world, which it just got slightly hindered in India due to the lack of diesel engine at the time of rising fuel prices. Now, sleeves rolled up and shoe laces tied, Honda is on the verge of striking back with a vengeance. Jazz packed with the diesel engine, and priced competitively due to local assembly, will rock the market like never before and may shatter the rivals into bits. Just wait and watch!
By the way, launch scheduled for June 2015!
