After so much speculation, the New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has finally been launched by Maruti. Starting price for the new Ertiga is Rs.7.44 lakhs for the base petrol and it goes up to Rs.10.90 lakhs for the top most spec diesel version.
A total of 10 variants have been launched – four petrol variants with manual transmission, two petrol variants with automatic transmission and four diesel variants with manual transmission. Since the new Ertiga is based on the newer Heartect platform, it is almost 20kg lighter than its predecessor. Powering the new Ertiga is the new 105HP 1.5-litre petrol engine which also powers the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The diesel engine fitted is the 90HP 1.3-liter engine which has sort of become a workhorse for Maruti.
Both the engines come with Suzuki’s famed SHVS technology and comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic torque converter is seen only in the petrol Ertiga.
