Mercedes Benz has launched the new S-class at a price of Rs.1.57 crores in India. This new 2014 sedan has the S500 variant at the moment, while the S350 CDI diesel variant is expected to be launched in the near future.
At the moment, only the top of the line petrol variant is being offered to the customers. According to the reports of the company, they have already sold over 125 units of the new S-class, and have made it clear to the other car enthusiasts that the new orders will not be delivered before April 2014. Each of the S500 variant will be imported directly from Germany as CBU.
Being a fifth generation car, the new sedan features the best of the company’s technology with the most advanced gadgets and wizardry. The car has to live up to its name just like the previous S-class. The car features a heated, massaging, cooling and reclining seats, Burmester 24 speaker audio system, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, night vision assist, panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps, climate control system as well as air suspensions. The leg room offered by the car is outstanding since the long wheelbase model is being sold in India.
Mercedes Benz S500 is powered by a V8, 4,663cc, twin-turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable of producing 453bhp with a torque of 71.38kgm. The car will come with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes is also planning to assemble the diesel variant of the car locally, which will be priced lower than the petrol variant and is expected to be available sometime later in 2014.
