Mahindra-owned SsangYong has always remained on the bar of mercury for readying the new vehicles silently. But now it seems, the slightly deem daylight had reached the undercover R&D department of SsangYong and its upcoming output is sounding like a “Rexton RX6”.
Hopefully, the Rexton RX6 will be an all new variant of the premium SUV, which will be powered by the Mercedes sourced 2.7-litre, five-cylinder, turbo-diesel motor, delivering 162bhp, after mated with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Though, it remains clear Mahindra wanted to penetrate the new set of customers with this new variant. On the flipside, the carmaker will retain all the features of the top-end trim Rexton automatic RX7 such as memory function with three presets for the driver’s seat position and wing mirrors, electronic sunroof with sunblind, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and all-wheel-drive system. Premium leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat will also make their way to it. And on outer board, the LED daytime-running lamps and LED tail-lamps will be accompanying the tough brigadier looks.
SsangYong Rexton has been sold in approximately 3,600 numbers since the launch. And in this attempt Mahindra wanted to deliver the luxuries (we mean features) of the top-end variant mated with a manual gearbox, in order to overcome the slow sales for the SUV.
