Renault for Indian roads can be only pictured with the Duster, where other of its models plates does not sell well. So, to give the segment all new gimmicks, it is reported of developing a new engine for India worth 800cc. The engine is presently codenamed as BR-8, where a new hatchback is also reported of being developed for it codenamed as XBA. The 800cc displacement powered by a 3-cylinder unit with power unknown for the time being will surely fit in 4-valves per cylinder, double-cam resulting with the better piece of hardware seen from Renault. Efficiency with power is the only memo roaring inside the heads of engineers at development.
To the league of AMT gearboxes, new engine will come with possibility of automated manual transmission (AMT), where in near future if needed French automaker may bring in more powerful version of it codenamed as BR10.
Option of diesel is ruled out for several reasons, as firstly the structure is crafted to hold small motors, and secondly the upcoming regulations of diesel car will lead to see it rising cost if would start the development now.
Price of the XBA hatchback is speculated to be approximately Rs 3 lakh, and will reach the showrooms by mid-2015.
