Few days back the automobile news segment was conquered with Nissan making the headlines. It was reported that the Jap automaker appointed Defiance Technologies, an Ashok Leyland’s correlated company, to establish cars under “Datsun” in India. Program Director of Datsun Business Unit (Nissan Motor), Ashwani Gupta revealed some important information regarding the same yesterday.
Gupta stated that Nissan Datsun Vehicles is going to put price tags of less than 4 lakh INR on its car. He added that apart from launching cars in India, the company would be launching a couple of vehicles in Russian and Indonesian markets. Further revelation included the news of designing of the cars in Japan and entire development at Nissan’s Chennai facility in India. Mr. Gupta was however spotted not disclosing anything regarding dealership of the company. The dealership factor for Nissan Datsun Vehicles is still cloaked. There are still reports circulating in the market that the company is yet to decide whether it is going to share dealerships with current Nissan showrooms or it will set up its separate showrooms across the nation.
The to-be introduced brand was actually brought into discontinuation way back in 1981 by FYI Nissan. Nissan Datsun Vehicles is going to be introduced again into several markets across the globe, including India, Russia and Indonesia in 2014. The inclusion of these three countries’ car markets comes under the Jap’s specific plan, Nissan Power 88 plan. The plan is actually a 6-year business plan meant to boost up company’s global growth in new markets and segments. As per the Power 88, the Japanese automaker has targeted an 8% global market share along with the same percentage of sustainable profit by the end of next four years.
Keeping the aforesaid plans in mind, the carmaker is certainly looking forward to capture a major portion of the market share using the potential of Datsun cars. The couple of cars that will be introduced at the first place are named K2 and i2. Both the cars are being anticipated to take their heads-on with Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon. The K2 and i2 might be showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. As of now word is, the K2 hatchback will sit on Nissan Micra platform, thus making it quite furl efficient and make it look irresistible.
