Although it has not yet been confirmed by Nissan India officially to the media, the name that it has given to its latest MUV has now been revealed. The car, which was till date using the codename of Nissan NV200, is now going to be called Nissan Evalia. As per information received from sources by Indian Drives, it has also been revealed that the Evalia is going to get its power from a turbo diesel 1.5L engine. The engine is surely going to play a big role in increasing the sales of this vehicle. It is expected that Nissan will start producing the Evalia from 2012 second half.
Nissan has, of late, been struggling to attract a lot of customers for its cars, which includes the Micra hatchback that is yet to climb the popularity charts and also the three cars that it brings to India as CBUs. In recent times, however, the auto maker has been able to get some good response through the Nissan Sunny sedan, which it has placed at the entry level. It looks like that Nissan has now designed strategies in lines with designing vehicles that can attract the masses in India. Utility vehicles have always been performing well on the Indian roads. This is the reason why Nissan is launching the Evalia, which has been designed to compete with the Toyota Innova. It is expected that the Nissan Evalia is going to be priced at Rs.7 Lacs.
