Nissan announced total domestic sales for January of 5182 units, an increase of 29 % as compared to sales of 4028 units in January 2013.
Nissan has recorded robust growth of 51.3 % % to 16,786 units for the October 2013 to January 2014 period compared to the 11,095 units in the corresponding period last year.
Nissan has been expanding it sales volume in India since the launch of the new Terrano compact SUV in October 2013.
Terrano is Nissan’s fourth locally produced vehicle in India, and is built alongside the mid-sized Sunny sedan, compact hatchback Micra, sporty Micra Active and MPV Evalia at Nissan’s Oragadam facility near Chennai.
Commenting on the company’s sales, Richard Spitzer, acting chief operating officer for Hover Automotive India (Nissan’s National Sales Company) said: “We are delighted with the reception Terrano has received from the market and its impact on strengthening sales performance since October last year.
“We look forward to carrying this momentum into 2014, supported by models like the new Sunny sedan.”
Mr. Debashis Mitra, executive director operations & advisor to COO, Hover Automotive India added: “We have had a strong start to 2014 with a significant rise in sales year-on-year. This has been achieved against a challenging economic backdrop which has impacted overall growth in India’s automotive sector.”
