Nissan Motor is building on its image as a global automaker. After creating buzz in the industry with the launch of Datsun brand in emerging markets, the Japanese automaker is taking a look at its own shelf. According to reports by ACI, Nissan is evaluating the launch of the executive saloon, Sylphy to Indian market.
Come 2014, India will welcome the newest member of Nissan lineup in the global market. The Nissan Sylphy is an executive saloon, positioned between the Sunny and Teana. Launched at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, the Sylphy is a successful saloon globally.
Nissan iterates that the car has class-leading interiors in terms of space and packaging. It has elegant interior with top-notch quality and material. Pop up the hood, and the car is braced by a 1.8-litre petrol unit with options from six-speed manual gearbox and automatic CVT. On the diesel end, Sylphy borrows the 1.5-litre K9K diesel motor from Renault Fluence. This engine gives a stunning 108 bhp peak power with improved fuel-economy.
In India, it will battle against the Renault Fluence, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta. Expect Nissan to price the Slyphy in the range of Rs 12-16 lacs. Watch this space for more from the Japanese brand.
