Mitsubishi’s SUV Pajero Sport that was launched by Hindustan Motors Ltd in March in India has received the Off Roader of the year award from the auto magazine BBC Top Gear. Managing Director of Hindustan Motors Ltd, Mr. Uttam Bose accepted the prestigious award at the function organized by the Top Gear at Gurgaon on 10th of December.
Speaking for the occasion, Mr. Bose said that the award is just another appraisal for the Pajero’s all-round capability across all terrains. The SUV that also holds the unique position of wining the world’s toughest car contest, the Dakar Rally consecutively for 13 times shows the strong bond between Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi Motor Corporation of Japan.
The C K Birla Group’s owned Hindustan Motors produces, assembles and sells Mitsubishi passenger vehicles in India, as per the technical collaboration deal signed by both the companies in 1998. The Lancer was the first vehicle that was launched in India by Hindustan Motors from Mitsubishi Motors. It was followed by Pajero SFX in 2002, Cedia in 2006, Montero in 2009, outlander and Lancer Evolution X in 2010. Some special edition version of these vehicles was also revealed during the time. Pajero Sports was launched in March 2012 is the latest edition from the HM-Mitsubishi group in India.
The award edition that revealed in December by BBC Top Gear says that Pajero Sport translates the simplicity into reality and without roads reliability could decide between life and death.
