Just ahead of its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche has unveiled the 911 sports car. Powered by a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, the Porsche 911 will come in two variants – the Carrera and Carrera S. The engine in 911 produces a peak power and torque of 356bhp and 450Nm in the Carrera and 416bhp and 500Nm in the Carrera S respectively. Engine in both cars have been mated to either a 7-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
With all this technology, the Porsche 911 can hop from zero to 100kmph in just 4.2 and 3.9 seconds for the Carrera and the Carrera S respectively. Top speed of the Carrera is 294kmph and of the Carrera S is 307kmph.
On the styling front, the new 911 gets head and tail lights, active air ducts for improved cooling, redesigned air vents in the rear of the car, turbochargers, intercoolers and redesigned wheels. On the inside, the new Porsche Communication Management System has been added which comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system is compatible with Apple Car Play, Google Earth and StreetView.
After its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Porsche 911 will hit the shelves across Europe sometime next year. The car will also be brought to India through the CBU route at the same time.
