India’s so called ancient car manufacturer Premier, holding true to their promise of launching an updated Premier Rio model during the festive season, have launched the 2011 Premier Rio with a petrol heart. This motor is the same one which powers the San Storm in India and has a peak output of 74 Bhp and peak torque of 104 Nm. It is aligned with a 5 speed manual transmission.
This naturally aspirated engine meets the stringent BS4 norms and the kerb weight of the Premier Rio is now only 1080 kgs. The interiors have also received an update while the fit and finish look to be a notch above what we have seen from the previous generation Rio. The Rio petrol has been sensibly priced with a starting point of Rs 4.7 lakhs. It would be available immediately in Premier show rooms across the country. This price tag remains the standard ex-show room thing, pan India. The Rio now gets ABS with EBD as a standard feature.
