The Octavia vRS is expected to make a debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. Skoda has announced the price of this car much before its launch. This car has been tagged with a price of 22,900 GBP which is Rs 20.65 lacs and will make it to the UK market in August this year. Skoda had released various teasers of the Octavia vRS giving a brief preview of the car. The company unveiled the entire look of the car finally in the last month.
Skoda Auto, more popularly called as Skoda is a Czech Republican firm that specializes in manufacturing automobiles. It was established in the year 1895 and is one of the oldest manufacturers that has an unbroken history line till date. It was started as a bicycle manufacturing and repairing company by the duo- Laurin and Klement. The company slowly and gradually became a fully competent automobile manufacturer. Skoda Auto, since 2000, is a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group.
Skoda Octavia is a small sized family car, commonly referred as a C segment car in European nations. It is being produced by Skoda Auto since the year 1996 and till date 3 generations of Octavia have made it to the market. The tag RS and vRS are used to denote high performance Octavia models. The third generation of this car made it into the market earlier this year. Now it is the high performance Octavia vRS that will bag the lime light at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this year.
The figures have stated that this car is the fastest among all the Octavia cars released so far. This vRS version of Octavia will be made available with 2 engine options. There will be a TSI engine Octavia with a 2 litre capacity, offering a power output of 220 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. The other variant will carry a lesser powerful TDI engine with a 2 litre capacity, giving an output of 188 bhp. To make the car more agile and to add to the total driving experience, Skoda has equipped the car with several features like an improved steering system, sport tuned suspension as well as a electronically locking front differential (XDS).
Talking about the car appearance, new Octavia vRS is comparatively more aggressive and has a newly designed honeycomb grille as well as redesigned bumper with daytime lamps. The car also has a dual exhaust system, bi Xenon head lamps and all alloy wheels with a diameter of 18 inches. The interiors welcome you with highly comfortable and sporty bucket seats, 3 spoke steering wheels and good amount of lighting. The car also has a ‘Dual Zone climate control’ and an infotainment system with a touch screen interface, which are a part of the standard model as well.
The standard Octavia will reach the Indian market somewhere in the month of September this year while the vRS version can be expected to arrive in the middle of the next year. Prior to this, Skoda had launched the RS variant of third gen Octavia as well as Laura. Skoda Octavia vRS might prove to be a sports car which is affordable for Indians.
