Production Version of Infiniti Q30 Revealed Before Frankfurt Debut

Marking its first entry into the ‘premium compact vehicle’ since the G20, Infiniti has revealed a photo of its much rumoured Q30 ahead of the car’s scheduled debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Once launched, the Q30 will take on the Mercedes A-Class in the market, but that’s not where the relationship between these two cars end. Similarities between the Q30 and A-Class are many only if one cares to look. The Q30 is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine and has the same 7 speed dual-clutch automatic transmission mated to it like the A-Class. Apart from these, the Q30 will utilize the same MFA platform that the A-Class comes with.

The engine fitted on the Q30, which incidentally also powers the Infiniti Q50, is said to give a peak output of 170PS and a max torque of 400Nm. Apart from that, the Q30 might boast of features like rain sensing wipers, Infiniti’s famed InTuition Entertainment system, automatic climate control systems, LED headlights, leather seats etc.

One must not confuse the Q30 with the QX30 crossover which will debut much later. The QX30 is similar to the Mercedes Benz GLA 250 and will take on the likes of BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Lexus NX in the market.
