Raised from France and aspired to take on the whole world with its French diligence, Renault confirmed its aggression towards the South East Asian market, by starting the production of Fluence in Malaysia.
Gilles Normand, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Region for the Renault group, and Dato Tan Heng Chew, Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Managing Director of Tan Chong Motors Holdings Berhad, today signed an agreement to build Fluence in Malaysia.
As per Renault, Malaysia economy is growing at an annual rate of 5%, falling third on the list in SE Asia after Thailand and Indonesia, to tap this enhancement in the economical changes, Renault had also planned to open 25 dealers by 2016.
In addition not only to increase the number of dealerships, the French automaker had said to bring in new models to suit the demand of the local buyers.
“We are delighted to be strengthening our partnership with Tan Chong Motors, partner to Nissan, with which Renault has been working for over ten years. This agreement marks the start of a new stage in the development of Renault in Malaysia where our ambition is to establish Renault as the within the top 3 of generalist European car makers by 2018,” said Gilles Normand.
