March 2013 sales figure of Renault India has witnessed an eight-fold jump compared to the same month previous year. Last month Renault has sold 8232 units of cars in India compared to just 1005 units it sold last year. The Duster SUV has proven to be a big boon for Renault India since out of these 8232 units sold, 6313 were Dusters. Apart from that the company also sold 1026 units of Scala, 541 units of Pulse hatchback, 337 units of Renault Fluence and just 15 units of Koleos.
The company top brass seems quite satisfied at this performance. Sumit Sawhney, executive director, sales & marketing, said that they not only surpassed their own expectation in terms of overall sales, but also in terms of the benchmarks they had set for themselves for Duster, Scala and Fluence. Of late, Renault products has found quite a bit of appreciation in the Indian market, especially since the introduction of the Duster SUV which has been a big hit with Indian car lovers.
