Renault has launched the much-awaited Kiger compact-SUV in the Indian market. Prices for the Renault Kiger starts at Rs 5.45 lakh. While the top-spec RXZ XTronic CVT variant retails at Rs 9.55 lakh.
All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (India). Bookings for the SUV is being accepted across India for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The SUV is offered in a total of four variants: RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ. Speaking of which, the Kiger is offered in six exterior colours: Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Grey, Mahogany Brown, Caspian Blue and Radiant Red.
All the above-mentioned colours are offered as a dual-tone paint scheme option as well. The dual-tone paint scheme offered on the compact-SUV attracts a premium of Rs 17,000 over the single tone scheme. The company has already begun its dealer dispatch of the Kiger SUV with deliveries said to begin soon across the country. India will be the first market for the Renault Kiger compact-SUV.
The new Renault Kiger will be manufactured at the French carmaker’s facility in Chennai. The production of the Kiger will take place alongside the likes of the Renault Kwid, Renault Triber and the Nissan Magnite; all of which use the same CMF-A+ platform. The company is offering the Renault Kiger a host of engine and transmission options.
This includes 1.0-litre (NA) Naturally-Aspirated petrol and turbo-petrol units. The NA engine produces a maximum of 72bhp and a peak torque of 96Nm. The engine comes mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT automatic.
The powerful turbo-petrol unit produces a maximum of 100bhp and a peak torque of 160Nm. Further, the engine is offered with a choice of either five-speed manual or a superior CVT automatic. The Kiger features a bold stance with its all-around body cladding, split-style headlamps with three pods of main units placed on the bumpers, roof rails, chrome-finished grille with Renault logo at the centre, and LED DRLs; among others.
It features 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels as well. The compact-SUV is packed with a host of features. This includes the multi-skin 7-inch instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, a multifunction steering wheel with mounted controls and a dual-tone interior theme; among others.
The Renault Kiger rivals the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300 and the Toyota Urban Cruiser; among others sold in the Indian market.
