Something big is coming from Renault!
As guessed, it’s not the Duster this time. French automaker’s next offering for the country is ‘Lodgy’ MPV.
Reportedly, the India-spec Lodgy MPV unfolds many insights to consider it to be a compatible rival to other MPVs found in India.
The first thing that can be noticed here is the largest wheelbase measuring 2,810mm.
On the front, chromed grille takes the cake and Renault badge shines above all like it used to do on every model. Even the tail lights is stretched far more than usual as of company’s other siblings.
Inside the cabin, there lives a huge wheelbase that doesn’t fail draw the attention of onlookers at first sight. Over the dashboard, most of cues are borrowed from Duster – infotainment system, instrument cluster, controls, steering wheel, gearlever and even the air-con controls aren’t left.
Based on the monocoque chassis, Lodgy is lighter in weight at 1,350kg and gains an upper hand in drawing the power from that Duster’s 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out 85PS. The peak torque of 248Nm here gets the advantage in drawing MPV from standstill to max. Plenty of space meant to be experienced in the second row and third row. Boot space also fits to be usable as it gets the upright tail gate.
Launch is expected in March 2015 and may be priced between Rs 8-12 lakh.
Renault Lodgy MPV poses as a tough competitor to Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and even Toyota Innova.
For the last note, Lodgy too belongs to the Renault’s low- cost brand ‘Dacia’ in Europe, but in India it will be sold under the Renault badge like Duster.
