Renault promised to bring the automatic version of its Scala, back in September during the launch of Renault Scala. Now, keeping the promise Renault has introduced the Scala automatic in Indian market. The Scala automatic will be available in the RXL and RXZ petrol variants. Equipped with the new X-tronic transmission system, Scala promises of higher fuel efficiency and lower running costs. Scala CVT tops the segment with the decent fuel efficiency of 17.97 kmpl, which comparable with the sedan with manual transmission in the segment.
Speaking on the launch, MD Renault India, Marc Nissif said that with more and more cars on road and frequent start and stop in the city has raised the demand for the automatic sedans in Indian market. Despite of the increase in the demand petrol automatics just comprises of about 6 percent of the share in the premium segment because of their low fuel economy and high ownership cost.
He further said that with Renault Scala X-tronic CVT they are trying to bridge the gap by providing class fuel economy and performance combined with reliability. With the new transmission customer will be experiencing something entirely different in the automatic transmission. A system that offers convenience, smoother performance and savings, making it one of the most attractive options amongst the premium automatic sedans.
From the time of its launch in September 2012, Renault Scala has been gaining pace and has already covered over 8 percent of the premium sedan sales in December 2012. Scala has also bagged several appreciations from the customers and auto experts and has sold over 3,000 units in just four month of its launch. With the Scala CVT Renault is trying to extend its presence in the automatic sedan segment.
