Skoda India will be revealing the all new Rapid Sedan on the 16th of November at New Delhi. It is being designed and engineered on the same platform like Volkswagen Vento with fascia sharing resemblance with Fabia. It is being designed at Chakan facility of Volkswagen near Pune along with Volkswagen Vento. The Rapid Sedan is priced between the most affordable Nissan Sunny and Volkswagen Vento in C-segment vehicles. The features that make it look different from Volkswagen Vento include Skoda badge and fascia with Fabia styling elements. The Rapid will be available in two different engine choices; the 1.6 liter petrol engine, which is good for churning out 105 horsepower and 160 newton meters of torque; and the 1.5 liter diesel engine that generates 105 horsepower and 250 newton meters of torque.
The Rapid Sedan’s both engines are paired with five-speed manual transmission, however the company might also consider a dual clutch six-speed automatic transmission in diesel and petrol variants. The starting price of Rapid is Rs. 7 lakh, and its interior will be marked by attractive and highly informative instrument cluster and driver-oriented dashboard. It offers comfortable seating capacity for five passengers with lumbar support. The Rapid is also expected to be equipped with some of the high end safety features such as Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist. A lot of features are expected on Rapid, including sophisticated integrated stereo system with AM/FM radio, pollen and dust filters and climate control system.
