A Japanese team consisted of four members, including Kenjiro Shinozuka, winner of 1997 Dakar Rally, drove the Suzuki Every EV for 1,300 km (807.7 miles) on a single charge. In fact, the team used a modified Suzuki Every for making the world record, and has made it run on the street in Ogata, a village in Japan. Four of the team members managed to drive that EV turn by turn, and in actual they drove it on a 25 km stretch of the village. Maximum speed of the EV was clocked at 30 km/h (18.6 mph) during the record.
Earlier, the record was of 1,000km (621 miles) which this new team has managed to break through. The Guinness Book of World Records hasn’t recorded it yet in their file, but a petition is been filed by the team with the committee.
Suzuki appropriately distributed very few Every EVs to dealers in Japan during summer of 2011, in ‘12’ numbers if said to be precise. The official information of Every EV was claimed to be of up to 62 miles on a single charge while carrying load of 550-pound.
