Tata Altroz DCA 2022 | Quick Review | Dual-Clutch Transmission |

Learn all about the upcoming launch from Tata Motors, the Altroz DCA. The Altroz is the first car to be built on Tata’s ALFA platform, which helped Altroz garner the title of being the safest hatchback in its segment. Since its launch, Altroz has found 1.25 lakh happy homes. Tata has regularly updated its product lineup with special editions like the Dark Edition and the Kaziranga Edition, to offer a refreshed look to their cars.

With the growing demands of automatic transmission in our automotive industry, Tata has heard its customers looking out for smooth and fast shifting auto gearboxes and that is where Tata plans to bring the Altroz DCA, the Dual-Clutch Automatic

The brand seems confident with its new gearbox, as they are out claiming it to set, the gold standards of Automatic.

But what’s new with the gearbox?

Apparently, Tata Motors has come up with a wet-clutch transmission, which reduces the friction between the gearbox components, offering a long-lasting life of the gearbox and at the same time, it makes gearshifts smooth and fast, across various driving conditions. The new gearbox has been specifically designed keeping in mind, the different types of driving conditions, an Altroz might come across in India. The unforgiving metro cities traffic jams, the inclines of Himalayan Range or be it the long expressways. The Dual-Clutch Automatic takes care of all such scenarios, without blowing up a gear or two.

This dual-clutch transmission will be paired with the ongoing 1.2 L NA Revotron petrol engine. This engine produces a peak power of 86 PS & 113 Nm of torque. Tata has only confirmed the offering of the  Dual-Clutch Transmission with the Naturally Aspirated engine. Whether the more powerful turbocharged engines will get a taste of the DCA or not, still remains a question for the future.

Is there anything else new with the Altroz DCA?

Yes, the Altroz DCA will also be coming with minor tweaks to the interior space and a new colour option. The ongoing Altroz is being offered with a 7-inch infotainment unit, so we expect it to be bigger than that. Secondly, the Altroz DCA will be launched with a new colour option- the opera blue. Rest, the car is expected to be similar to the ongoing production unit.

The Altroz still boast its segment-best safety and comfort features. With the use of ALFA architecture, the Altroz secures a 5-Star safety rating from the Global NCAP, making it the safest in the segment for adults and child occupants. Apart from the structural rigidity, the Altroz comes with ABS with Brake Sway Control, Electronic Brake Distribution, Corner Stability Control, Dual-Airbags & Isofix mounts for baby seats.

In terms of pampering the users, with comfort and convenience features, the Altroz comes with voice commands, auto-headlamp, auto- wipers, cruise control, smartphone connectivity, rear ac-vents  & Harman Speakers.

One of the subtle features of the Altroz, which highlights Tata’s thoughtfulness in the design of the car, is the 90-degree opening doors. All four doors of the Altroz open all their way up to 90-degrees offering a wide space to make ingress and egress easy for passengers.

The Altroz DCA will be offered in XT, XZ, XZ+ variants and it will also be offered in the trim of Dark Edition. Apart from the new shade of Opera Blue, the DCA will also be offered in Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, Avenue White and Harbour Blue.

The Altroz DCA will rival the automatic hatchbacks in the segment, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno AMT, Hyundai i20 DCT, Honda Jazz CVT & the VW Polo Automatic.

Tata Motors has started accepting bookings for the Altroz DCA, with a booking amount of just Rs 21,000. The launch and deliveries of the vehicle are expected to start by the end of this month, in March.
