Tata Motors soon will be entering the premium hatchback segment with their much awaited car Tata Altroz, which will be launched on January 22, 2020. Recently, Tata Altroz underwent the crash test conducted by Global NCAP and it earned a 5-star rating. Tata Motors announced that its premium hatchback the Altroz has become the latest recipient of the 5-star adult safety rating from Global NCAP, the foremost global car assessment programme. This makes Altroz not only the second vehicle from Tata Motors to achieve this, but also makes it the second passenger car in the Indian automotive industry to make it to this level, after the Nexon, which was awarded this distinction in December 2018. The Altroz scored solid 5 stars with 16.13 points out of 17 in adult occupant protection while in child occupant protection it got three stars with 29 points out of 49.
The first product based on the new ALFA architecture, the Tata Altroz will get two BS6-compliant engine options a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86hp and 113Nm, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit producing 90hp and 200Nm of torque. For now, both versions will only come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but a dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as an option in the future.
Tata Altroz prices to be in the range of Rs 5-8 lakh (ex-showroom), which will compete with the likes of the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz.
