In the days of going automatic with every possible gadget with no exception to the cars – at a near future, in the present, the automatic gearbox is like a first step to the upcoming advancements. The Tata Bolt AMT will deploy a five speed gearbox with a regular ‘D’ mode and a sportier tiptronic mode. The Magneti Marelli developed automatic gearbox on the Tata Bolt is expected to be similar to the one on Maruti Celerio AMT, and then to be followed on Nano AMT as well.
About to sell the old wine in a new bottle, and not working to develop something new like Maruti, AMT is a conventional manual gearbox hooked up to a set of electronic actuators. These actuators are further controlled by hydraulic electro-valves. The motif of gaining fuel-efficiency is also attained with this tech, and it’s for just manufactured at a fraction cost of developing the new CVT or other automatic gearboxes.
