Tata Motors holds selection drive for NSDC’s ‘Udaan’ initiative in Jammu & Kashmir

Tata Motors is all set to start the next round of selection drive for NSDC’s ‘Udaan’ initiative in Jammu and Kashmir. The company will commence selection drives on October 25th and 26th at Govt. Polytechnic, Jammu and on the 28th and 29th Oct 2013 at Kashmir Polytechnic, Srinagar. The company plans to recruit 144 candidates from this drive.

Preferred candidate profiles are Graduate / Diploma Engineers from Mechanical / Automobile / Electrical/ Production / Manufacturing disciplines (from an AICTE approved institute) who are less than 30 years of age as on 1 October, 2013. Graduate Engineers should have up to 3 years & Diploma Engineers should have between 4 – 7 years of industrial experience.

Vacancies exist in around 50 cities in India across 15 states. Selected candidates will undergo intensive training on technical and managerial skill development in the first six months in reputed educational institutes & Tata Motors Training centres during which they will receive stipend and Boarding & Lodging. After successful completion of training, the candidates will be placed with various dealerships of TATA Motors as ‘Assistant Workshop Manager’ in any one of the 50 cities in India. The job profile will require the candidate to work with closely with a team on all aspects of Automobile Workshop Management.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Global Head- Customer Care of Tata Motors said, “We are delighted to announce the selection drive in Jammu & Kashmir. Our focus is to provide employment- oriented training to youth from the state. As per the ‘Tata Motors Certified Works Manager Scheme’, the company will recruit fresh graduates from engineering colleges of Jammu & Kashmir and provide them with platforms like this to channelize their energies into creative pursuits and prepare them for a better future.”

Earlier this year in May, Tata Motors became the first automobile company to sign a MoU with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation), under PM’s Udaan Scheme, through “Tata Motors Certified Works Manager” programme. The MoU was signed to explore training and employment opportunities for graduates, post-graduates, 3 year engineering diploma holders and professional degree holders of Jammu & Kashmir, through a collaborative action oriented agenda. As a next step, company announced its selection programme in Jammu & Kashmir. Tata Motors selected the first batch of 56 UDAAN candidates in June 2013, who are currently undergoing training.

Udaan is a special Industry Initiative for J&K envisaged as an industry led programme, wherein corporates will tap into the large pool of educated youth of J&K and provide them training to make them employment ready. Udaan, an initiative of the Prime Minister has mandated NSDC to work with the corporate sector in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, benefiting about forty thousand graduates, post-graduates, 3 year engineering diploma holders and professional degree holders, over five years.
