Tata motor’s offer everything from a truck to a small Nano car i.e. passenger cars, trucks, vans and coaches. Tata trucks are very famous in the country and accounted as most reliable. Initially Tata was only a manufacturer of locomotives; in 1954 the company produced its first commercial vehicle in collaboration with Daimler- Benz. The collaboration ended in the year 1969.
Tata enjoyed huge success in commercial sector and later decided to enter the passenger car segment. After this decision Tata launched Sierra in the year 1991. The car though not in production today is remembered as one of the most durable Tata motor in India.
Tata Safari, followed after the release of Sierra. It is believed to be the first SUV completely manufactured in India itself. Later they produced a refined version of Safari with a DICOR engine with better car interiors and exteriors. Both these cars got immense response from the people and this inspired Tata to come up with more better and diversified models.
In 1994 Tata Sumo came into existence and till date is famous for its sturdy build and for its use on long and difficult roads. After the success of Tata Sumo, the company came up with a more advanced and modified the model, which was the Tata Sumo Deluxe in 1996.
Later what followed was also legendary as Tata came out with Tata Indica in 1998 which is till date one of the key options in hatchback car segment. The car broke all the record sales of Tata motors and the company was invigorated to design more advanced and different models of the Indica that began invading the Indian roads. Tata motors also launched a diesel model in 2000 after experiencing rise of demand in the diesel and CNG models India.
The success and appreciation that they achieved in the passenger car and compact car segment pushed them further to diversify their offerings. Then Tata came up with Sedans. Tata Indigo in the sedan segment became what Sumo and Indica were in their segment, a leader. Variants of Tata Indigo started flooding the markets. Designed according to people’s varying demands Indigo executive, Indigo CS, Indigo Marina were launched. Their recent addition to the sedan sector is the Tata Manza which has created a huge buzz in the market and has earned many buyers.
One of the chief products of Tata motors which made them world famous is the Tata Nano, which Ratan Tata came up with for the middle-class masses. Nano is not just India’s but world’s cheapest car ever produced.
