Unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012, Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle Division today launched the new Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILCV) range of trucks christened ‘Ultra’.
Ultra range of ILCV boasts superior technology and design along with the low cost of ownership. Increased comfort level is claimed to have higher uptime, superior aggregates and customised requirements.
Launching the all-new Tata Ultra ILCV range, Mr. Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd., said, “After the world-class range of Prima trucks, we now introduce another global standard of trucks in ILCV segment – the Tata Ultra trucks. With stylish, futuristic and smart utility features, the Tata Ultra, has been designed to fast track the consumer’s business growth and deliver a reliable, safe, comfortable, vehicle with superior performance. At Tata Motors, the core philosophy behind the launch of every new vehicle is an endeavor to modernise the Indian commercial vehicle industry. The Tata Ultra is a result of extensive feedback from customers and an immersive study into the lives of drivers to understand their expectations from their vehicles in the ILCV segment. Keeping in mind the changing needs of customers and changing technology, we have once again taken the pioneering step in India’s commercial vehicle industry by launching the Tata Ultra range of trucks.”
The Ultra range of commercial vehicles were conceived from the platform of Starbus that too are based on the Ultra platform, and are posed as a successful product for servicing the needs of consumers with ultimate comfort for drivers, improved NVH, fuel efficiency, and resulting in lowest total cost of ownership.
The new Tata Ultra range of trucks will come in several variants ranging between the payload capacity of 5 and 15 tonnes. The reliable Tata engine, gearbox and clutch and pioneering driver-centric features like disc brakes, radial tyres, spacious world-class cabin, suspended seats, HVAC option makes the package sturdier.
The interiors is claimed by Tata Motors to have adhered to global standards of trucking, with the hydraulic-operated 45 degree tiltable cabin, dash-mounted gear lever, AC provision and a new generation instrument cluster.
Enhanced power steering system with drooping characteristics, three people seating capacity, front parabolic suspension for increased comfort, new generation head and tail lamps, integrated with LEDs, which is an industry first in the commercial vehicle segment, enables this LICV to perform better on roads.
The Tata Ultra 812 and Tata Ultra 912 are the first two models from the Ultra range which will be rolled out across all Authorised Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle dealerships, starting from Rs. 10.53 Lakhs, ex-showroom Chennai for Tata Ultra 812 and from Rs. 10.94 Lakhs, ex-showroom Chennai, for Tata Ultra 912.
The Tata Ultra range will be available in four different paint options – Sardinia Red, Arctic White, Arizona Blue and Yellow.
