The compact SUV segment is one of the most promising segments currently, there are only 7 cars in this segment, but we are expecting new entrants in this segment. Last year, we saw Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue being launched. While Tata has already entered the segment with Nexon, they at the Auto Expo 2020 showcased their another compact SUV concept HBX, this will be Tata Motors’ smallest SUV.
Tata Motors is all set to launch production-spec HBX next year in 2021. Tata HBX caught all the attention during the Auto Expo 2020 and hence Tata motors are all set to launch this compact SUV. According to Tata Motors, the HBX concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 is 90% production-ready. It is the second model after the Altroz to be based on the ALFA platform as well as the smallest car to be built on it. In the company’s range of models, the HBX will be positioned below the Nexon.
Exteriors of the model will include a split headlamp design, where the cluster at the top will house the LED DRLs and integrated turn indicators while the lower unit will house the main headlight unit. Also on offer will be a single thick slat grille and halogen fog lamps. On either side, the model will feature multi-spoke alloy wheels and a C-pillar mounted rear door handle while the posterior would receive LED taillights, a high mounted stop lamp, and a rear bumper-mounted number plate.
Tata HBX will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit, paired to a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT unit. but Tata is also working on an all-electric version of the HBX, which will be launched very soon.
Tata HBX prices to be in the range of Rs 4.5 – 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With the introduction of the HBX, Tata Motors will have a variety of SUVs for customers.
