Spiced up the segment with all new ‘Zest’, Tata Motors launched its sub-4 meter sedan in India for a starting price of Rs 4.64 lakh in petrol, while the diesel one hits the mark at Rs 5.64 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
Stylish in the segment, and loaded with features, this new sedan of Tata is available with automatic and manual gearbox. And it has to be said Zest also got the AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox for the diesel variant, which is the first for a diesel car in the compact sedan category; can be safely uttered as ‘first compact diesel sedan with automatic gearbox’.
In the books of new designing tweaks, dashboard is all new with oodles of features, Harman music system, a touchscreen infotainment system for the top-end variant that can also function on voice command – receiving and rejecting calls, sending text messages, and playing music on voice are some its function that wasn’t available in the segment before. Daytime running lights are available on the for the top-of-line spec.
Under the hoods, Tata Zest stores the Revtron 1.2L petrol engine of 90PS and 140NM with three-driving modes: Eco, City and Sport. On the diesel side, the 1.3L in two states of tunes, 90PS for higher trims and 75PS for base trim. The car is based on the front wheel layout. More importantly, Tata Motors this time is focused on the service, so anyone heading to the Tata service centers can now experience the change with all the function based on tablet PCs.
