Only yesterday, we reported the all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis India launch could happen by May this year. Now according to the reports, the launch is scheduled to happen on 27th May. Soon after the introduction, deliveries of the car are expected to commence in the first week of June. The dealerships have already started accepting bookings for Rs. 50,000 and its price is expected to retail for around Rs. 40,000 more than the price of current model. The Corolla Altis will be offered with both diesel and petrol versions. Motivation for the petrol variant comes from 1.8 liter engine, which is good for pulsating 140PS of power @ 6400 rpm with 190 newton meters of torque @ 4000 rpm.
Alternatively, the diesel variant is propelled by a D-4D 4-cylinder 1.4 liter engine that’s good for producing 88.4PS of power @ 3800 rpm. The engine will be teamed up with a 7-speed CVT (continuously variable transmission) with shift paddles. The 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis looks more stylish as compared to the current model and features chrome grille with LED headlights and taillights. It will be available in seven color choices and is expected to get premium features such as push button start, eight-way adjustable driver seat, seven inch touchscreen entertainment system, rearview camera, LED daytime running lamps, keyless ignition, rain sensing wipers and shift paddles on automatic variant.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis measuring 1776mm wide, 1475mm tall and 4620mm long, is wider and longer as compared to the current model. The 2700mm wheelbase is a whole 100mm longer unlike its predecessor. The Japanese automaker which has been sailing in India since 1997 recently achieved another landmark of one million sales in the domestic market. Last month, Toyota announced a price cut across its models in India, in the wake of the latest excise duty reduction announced in the interim budget 2014-15.
