Toyota Kirloskar Motors have impressively started bookings for the Toyota Fortuner from the first day of 2011. If memory serves us right, the company had closed the bookings for the Toyota Fortuner since it was unable to cope up with the supply demand feature for the big Toyota. Since its launch in August 2009, the Toyota Fortuner has sold more than 17,000 units in the Indian market and has also maintained a market share of 60% for the mid size SUV segment.
Earlier on Toyota Kirloskar Motors used to produce about 500 units of this SUV per month however now production has been ramped up to make about 1000 units each month. The company claims to have about 3000 units in the backlog as of now from the earlier bookings. Within about 3 days from January 2011, the company has so far received 223 bookings for this SUV. These customers would get their hands on the Toyota Fortuner only by April 2011. The company has thanked all its customers for their patience and for receiving the Toyota Fortuner so well.
