Toyota Fortuner, ace of Japanese SUVs in India, is about to get more lucrative than before. As earlier reported of carmaker developing a 2.5L diesel variant, the same is about to launch in October 2014.
Under hoods, the oil burner is meant to power output of 142bhp mated to a manual transmission available in two-wheel drive variant. At present, Fortuner is also in the line to join the fray of automatic transmission with 4WD of a 3.0L diesel engine powering 168bhp.
On the sales chart, the 4×2 variant automatic consisted of 50% Fortuner’s sales. The next-gen SUV is also lined-up and was spotted testing in Thailand. The 2.5L and 3.0L 4WD is aimed to take on the potent SUV buyers for a competitive choice and a one for the lucrative price.
