India has always been considered as one of the most potent automobile markets across the globe. The country has recorded 10% year-on-year increment in new car sales in June. The year-on-year registrations in June went up to 197,783. On the other hand, year-to-date unit sales went up to 1,414,027, exhibiting 12% increase compared to that in 2011.
Maruti Suzuki Alto has been seen to get back to be the best-seller with 21,645 units and 10.9% market share, but sales went down by 7% year-on-year basis. It was Maruti Swift that followed the best-seller (Maruti Suzuki Alto) with 15,682 units, which is up by 66% year-on-year. The other Maruti models that did pretty well were theMarutiDzire and Maruti WagonR. Dzire sales figure recorded was 13,741 units & 6.9% (up 453% year-on-year). It was Maruti WagonR that came 4thwith 5% market share in May, after regaining 5 spots.
On the other hand, Mahindra Bolero has gone down by one rank during last month, while beating its record market share at 4.8% because of its 9,514 unit sales count. The Hyundai i20 has secured its best-ever 6th position after it succeeded beating its sales and market share records at 7,676 units and 3.9% respectively.
Toyota Innova has witnessed the most impressive results amongst all the big sellers. The car went into the Indian Top 10 for the first time. The Innova moved up 5 spots and claimed the 7th spot with 6,785 unit sales and 3.4% market share. The car has ended up beating its monthly market share records of the past three months. The Japanese carmaker tried to conquer Indian market with Etios and hopes are high for theInnova as well. Taking a look just outside the Top 10 list, Hyundai Verna has occupied the best position at number 11 with a market shareof 3%.
