Toyota Camry Hybrid which was there braced in doubted structure, whether it will make its way to India or not. Now it got officially cleared from the heap of rumors and launched itself for Rs. 29.75 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
The Hybrid Camry deploys 2.5L petrol sipped beltless engine assimilated with an electric motor that develops Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD). The HSD of Hybrid Camry makes it to switch between petrol and electric mode claiming fuel efficiency of 19.16kpl as per ARAI and power of 205PS. The gearbox that had been planted in this Toyota to drive the traction is an Electronically controlled CVT (E-CVT) automatic gearbox. And the carbon foot-print in numbers that this car is said to leave at its back is termed as 122.8gm of CO2/100km.
Learning more in detail about the Hybrid system functioning, it was revealed the electric motor which is fitted along with the engine under the hoods of the car, stores in kinetic energy that gets wasted while decelerating/braking, and utilizes the same to charge battery when vehicle runs on the road. In this manner the Toyota says the car yields astonishing fuel efficiency despite being fitted with a so called big engine in its bay.
Enhanced cosmetics and features too are ignored-off from the hay of heavy price tags. The four SRS airbags, traction control, VSC, Hill start assist, power windows, driver seat adjustment and steering wheel management with memory, power recline rear seat, three-zone air conditioning and many more are found lugged with this car.
However it can be said that Toyota had ticked right in all checklist boxes, where the Grey Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic and Attitude Black outer shade also doesn’t leave a crevice for a doubt to barge in. But a questions still persists in our mind that, does India will accept this (Hybrid Camry) types of vehicle when the audience here are addicted to diesel ones in the daily rising fuel-price run? In addition, the oil burner often tends to give in a better fuel-efficiency than the Hybrid drivetrain quiet for a lesser price tag than it. Hope so, the sales figure of Toyota Camry Hybrid will answer the question.
