Toyota showcased its all new Vios at Shanghai Motor Show which is meant for the global markets. The vehicle is also known as Yaris in other markets. The car was also displayed at the recently held Bangkok motor show.
It is the saloon that lies just below the Corolla line up in the most of the countries. The new version comes with the new design language from Toyota and also gets all new designed front with a much sharper profile. The interior has been blessed with high quality materials that are embedded with the chrome inserts and beige and black colour theme.
According to the company, the vehicle has been designed with the world class standards to suit global market. The vehicle comes with the projector head lamps, alloy wheels and chrome trim on the body. The family look that was imparted to the Camry is also featured on Vios and can also be seen on Corolla.
The vehicle houses a four cylinder 1.5-litre engine that delivers about 107 bhp and is coupled with the five speed manual gearbox while the top of the line model will come with the four speed automatic transmission.
There are still no words from the company if they are planning to bring Vios to the Indian market but in case Vios is launched in the Indian market it will be stationed between the vehicles like Etios and Corolla in the product line up of Toyota in Indian market. In India the vehicle will feature direct competition from the like of Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Skoda Rapid. It will require some serious hardware to compete with these market leaders.
