Toyota has confirmed that it would be launching a fully electric car in India soon and it would be developed in partnership with Maruti.
In fact, Toyota has said that the car would share platform and engine of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Wagon R based electric hatchback. Since 2016 Suzuki and Toyota has been exploring ways of partnering for a fully electric car in India.
In 2017 they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R electric car would be launched in 2020 and since it would avail of government subsidies in the FAME II scheme, it is expected that the car would be priced quite aggressively.
The car is likely to have a range of 130km on a full charge of its batteries and would support AC and DC charging.
