As we had reported on this channel a few days, Triumph has launched its Triumph Speed Twin in India at Rs.9.46 lakhs.
The original Speed Twin 5T was launched back in 1938 and it helped Triumph overcome gloom and doom of the markets around the world in the aftermath of the World War II. The new Speed Twin is really a cross between Street Twin and Thruxton R. It is powered by an updated version of 1200cc parallel twin engine seen on the Thruxton R. But peak output remains the same at 97HP.
The new Speed Twin sees a 10kg reduction in weight compared to the Thruxton R. KYB sourced suspension has been added both at the front and the rear – 41mm cartridge forks in the front and twin-shocks with adjustable preload at the back.
Braking duty is handled by 305mm discs, and Brembo four-piston fixed calipers at the front and twin Nissin calipers and 220mm discs at the rear.
