Volkswagen CrossPolo is spied a couple of times testing on our Indian roads, but for the unknown it is the crossover based on the hatchback ‘Polo’s’ platform. Thought it is the hatchback underneath its cladding exactly, but for a SUV oriented audience (like we Indians) it seems the best workout for the class who had been there vying such a tempting association without wasting a lot of money on that gas-guzzling way of going off-road.
However, a media source is claiming the carmaker is about to launch CrossPolo by this week itself.
Though, not much of the details had been oriented, but some of them say it will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel engine. And on the cosmetics front it would feature a more heighted base of the Polo, plastic cladding from the chin rounding to the rear of vehicle, silver anodised roof rails, 16-inch alloys, silver rear diffuser, and hopefully half-a-ticket bigger boot to suit the image of being crossover.
Pricing will be higher than the Polo TDI Highline variant by Rs. 70,000-80,000, but in addition to it one may derive the benefits of soft off-roader, doesn’t seems to be of a bad equation at all.
The said source had specified 21st August 2013 as the exact launch date of Volkswagen CrossPolo where organization is not in the mood to do a lot fanfare for this, expectedly may do only the soft launch for same.
Lastly, carmaker also seem working on bringing another variant of the CrossPolo later, touted to be more upmarket variant with a spare wheel at the back and VW’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine. This could be set for a 2014 launch.
