Volkswagen India has announced that they will be increasing the prices of their Vento diesel model by 2.2% from July 1 so as to offset the increasing costs of inputs. They will, however, not raise the prices of their Vento petrol variant.
The diesel Vento variant is currently has a price range of Rs.7.99 lakhs to Rs.9.24 lakhs, according to ex-showroom prices in Delhi, whereas the petrol Volkswagen Vento variant has a price range of Rs.6.99 lakhs to Rs.9.22 lakhs.
Neeraj Garg, Board member of VW Group Sales India, and Director of VW Passenger Cars, said that they have not witnessed any concede in input costs for months now. This has forced them to hike the price of their Vento compact sedan.
He further added that they are aware that their customers who opt for petrol variants will have to face the burden of fuel price hikes as well as, and therefore decided to carry on absorbing additional prices for their petrol variants.
According to the company, all their customers who order their diesel variant Vento before June 30, 2011 can buy the model without facing any price hike. Volkswagen India also said that they would reduce the interest of 6.99% on selected Vento petrol variants beginning June, 2011. The Vento sedan was launched by VW India in September, last year. The company has managed to sell around 23,649 models of their Vento sedan up till May, 2011.
