Volkswagen India recently posted a sales growth of 244% for the month of May. The European auto manufacturer managed to sell around 6,185 models in comparison to the 1,796 models they sold in the corresponding period, last year. Volkswagen managed to sell around 5,889 models of the Vento and Polo last month, as well as 184 models of their new Passat, which is equipped with BlueMotion Technology.
For the January to May period this year, the company reportedly sold around 33,958 models, in comparison to the 32,627 models they sold in the corresponding period, the year before.
Neeraj Garg, the companies, Director and Member of Board, Passenger Cars, said that they are pleased with their company’s overall performance and the acceptability that their products have received in India, which enabled them to outshine their sales for last year, in just five months time.
He also said that they hope to carry on with their performance in the following months, in spite of the present market scenario. Their flagship brand made a late entry in the Indian auto market; however it is continuing to win hearts with its German technology.
