The German car maker and Europe’s largest player in the automobile market, Volkswagen, which has not in a distant past ventured in to the domestic Indian market with its flagship models has witnessed an impressive growth with the persisting demand for its vehicles. The small hatch back cars produced by Volkswagen namely Polo and a sedan variant of the same, the Vento, have reportedly done well for the better fortunes of the company. The company is among the few car makers which are struggling with the constraints on the supply side of the equation.
The latest reports emerging from the German car maker is that it has sold a total of 5,601 units in the month of January 2011 alone. This surge in the sales figures is attributed to the buoyancy in the demand witnessed due to the sedan Vento and small car Polo.
Director and Member of Board, Volkswagen India, Mr. Neeraj Garg was quoted as saying that the company is looking forward to consolidating its growing position for both the models that are bringing in volumes and at the same time concentrating on the premium segment of the market.
The company currently offers Volkswagen Passat and Jetta, both are assembled at its plant at Aurangabad. Also offered are the Phaeton, the SUV Touareg and the new Beetle.
