The Internet is flooded with rumors that Volkswagen is pulling the 1.6-litre Volkswagen Polo Petrol hatchback out of the Indian market. Rumors triggered after the renowned car maker took the hatchback version off its Official Volkswagen India website.
However, the Germany-based car manufacturer has so far not released any official communication regarding discontinuing of this model.
Currently, the Volkswagen Polo 1.6 petrol is available with a price tag ranging between Rs. 4.75 and Rs. 7.49 lakh. New Delhi showroom price for the hatchback is Rs. 6.55 lakh.
The hatchback’s petrol engine produces a maximum power of 103bhp and a peak torque of 153Nm. The Polo 1.6 petrol is known for its fuel efficiency as well as quality performance. It gives a mileage of 13 kilometers per litre (km/l). On the whole, the Volkswagen Polo provides remarkable feel, sporty nature as well as striking comfort.
Meanwhile, Skoda has discontinued the Fabia 1.6 from the Indian market after the hatchback failed to attract the desired number of buyers and suffered poor sales. The discontinuing of the Fabia from the Indian markets is a sensible move as it was suffering from poor sales. It could not sell even 500 units of the car per month.
Both, any potential move to discontinue the Volkswagen Polo will not be sensible as this car has managed to clock more than 3,000 units consistently.
But, it is also a fact that petrol version of the Polo is not as successful as diesel version. Majority of the sales of both the Fabia and the Polo come from the diesel variants. Both the Fabia and the Polo come equipped with the 1.2 Liter, three-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produce a maximum power of 72bhp and a peak torque of 180Nm.
